Establishing a connection between your Monolith NT.115 and control PC

Setting up a static IP address

The Monolith NT.115 needs to be connected directly to the PC’s network card slot via an ethernet cable (not via the adapter), and a static IP-address must be established. If the wrong IP address is selected in the system configuration, the control software cannot connect to the instrument. To switch to the correct IP address, follow the steps below.

  • Make sure that the connection via the Ethernet cable is established and recognized by the control laptop.
  • Type ‘ncpa.cpl’ into the Start menu search box and press ‘Enter’.
  • Right-click ‘Ethernet’ or ‘Local Area Connection’ and open ‘Properties’.
  • Double-click on the item ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’ and select ‘Use the following IP address’.
  • Change the IP address to ‘192.168.1.1’ and the subnet mask to ‘255.255.255.0’.
  • Click ‘OK’ to save the new settings and close all open windows.

Setting up the config file

If you want to reestablish a connection to a laptop previously used for the Monolith, then this step might not be needed. If the PC is new or newly set up, then the correct config file needs to be added manually to the specified location, after you have installed the Control Software.  To acquire the config file, please contact support@nanotempertech.com and state the device’s serial number which you can find on the power brick and back of your Monolith (e.g. “201603-BR-P004”).

  • Check if the directory ‘C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/NanoTemper/Control’ exists. If it does not exist, create it.
  • Move the received config file ‘Config.xml’ into the directory ‘C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/NanoTemper/Control’.
  • Restart Monolith and laptop and check if the software can now connect to the instrument.
