Establishing a connection between your Prometheus Panta and control PC
Setting up a static IP address
The Prometheus Panta needs to be connected directly to the PC’s network card slot via an ethernet cable (not via the adapter), and a static IP-address must be established. If the wrong IP address is selected in the system configuration, the control software cannot connect to the instrument. To switch to the correct IP address, follow the steps below.
- Make sure that the connection via the Ethernet cable is established and recognized by the control laptop.
- Type ‘ncpa.cpl’ into the Start menu search box and press ‘Enter’.
- Right-click ‘Ethernet’ or ‘Local Area Connection’ and open ‘Properties’.
- Double-click on the item ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’ and select ‘Use the following IP address’.
- Change the IP address to ‘172.16.4.3’ and the subnet mask to ‘255.255.255.0’.
- Click ‘OK’ to save the new settings and close all open windows
